Reference DOCUMENT

The PARADISO reference document, in its version dated March 2009, can be downloaded here as a pdf file.

This document further develops the PARADISO vision (see the In a few words section) and explores a new concept of progress that developed, emerging, and developing countries might share, aiming at a true sustainable development, a more sustainable economic growth, more equally shared resources, and eventually the well-being of peoples around the world, measured through a new index related to the progress of societies. The document also investigates the role that ICT can play in the hypothesis of such global societal developments, and derives the strategic research areas that can usefully be explored in the short term in order that suited solutions can be made available in the future.

The PARADISO scientific workshop organised on June 12-13, 2008 in Brussels and the PARADISO “ICT for a global sustainable future” conference held on January 22-23, 2009 in Brussels have provided opportunities to openly discuss the successive versions of the PARADISO reference document with individuals and organisations from all around the world.

In order to take into account in future versions of this document, the inputs from the largest number of individuals and organisations having an interest in the addressed topics, an open consultation has been launched. Should you wish to contribute, please fill in the below form. Received contributions to date can be accessed when clicking on the "contributions" button.

One of the main expected outputs of the PARADISO project is the PARADISO reference document, made available, in its successive versions, on this web site. This document has been discussed on the occasion of the two events the project has organised in Brussels (on June 12-13, 2008 and on January 22-23, 2009). Its current version is open to contributions from any organisations and individuals through an online consultation.
